3/11/11 C'mon Spring!

Homepage: Zaguar

Fourth Of July's back at it, playing shows in Kansas City (TONIGHT, Friday, March 11th at the Beaumont Club, opening for Hugo), up on campus at the Student Union for their "Big Event" on March 31st and then - no joke! - back in KC at the Record Bar on April 1st. They've got some new hits worked up, new hair-cuts and fresh facial-hair syles and some pretty slick new black-on-black Fourth Of July t-shirts. Get there!

Congratulations to our girl Dri and her dub project Extra Classic. They're putting out a 7" for "Congo Rebel" on their own Nopal Records imprint. Release party is in Lawrence next Tuesday, the 15th, where they'll be steady-rockin' the Taproom. Daammnnnn. So jealous, Lawrence.

And then for those of you heading to SXSW, Extra Classic will be there playing the Manimal SXSW showcase at Malaia with Sister Crayon and Papercranes on Thursday, March 17th. They play at 1AM, deep in the cut.

If you're in New York, there are a handful of the White Flight "Panther/Children of the Light" 7"s for sale at Other Music. Hopefully some at Love Garden in Lawrence soon. And there are still limited copies available at the Make Mine store. I received some recently from Make Mine and they look beautiful and sound like analog ecstasy.

Other White Flight news can be best summed up by @mgmalloy on twitter: "Can we expect White Ark in 2011? feels like it's the new SMiLE..." Which would mean it's on course for 2045... : )

Say My Name is piecing together material for a follow-up to last year's ahead-of-it's-time "Say My Name EP". Thanks to everyone who copped the vinyl, a Pre Sense Form- designed 12" 45. This time around bad boy Kenneth Kupfer is handling design. Details soon.

C'mon Spring!
