About
"Children of the Light" is the second single from the unreleased White Flight sophomore album "White Ark".
"White Ark" was recorded in August 2007 in Catskill, NY at Old Soul Studios. Justin had been at Old Soul with Ratatat during their recording of LP3 earlier that Summer. He came away with an affinity for the studio, the equipment, the expanse of land it sat on and the Old Soul Owner/Producer Kenny Siegel. So it made sense to return to Old Soul - again with Ratatat - to record his follow up White Flight album.
They got some amazing tracks done there and, really, the whole original hot-of-the-presses album was a thrill to listen to and could have/ should have been released. But we all wanted to make it even better. And as the time and money and coordination required to complete it got more and more complicated, we wound up sitting on these songs for years.
So these 2010 singles were our way of keeping hope alive for "White Ark". Meanwhile the original album got leaked to bit-torrent and sketchy download sites. Here's a YouTube playlist I compiled of what's out there on YouTube.
To White Flight fans: I'm sorry this didn't all go smoother. It always felt like we were wrestling with forces beyond our control. - Zach
